Hiring for a fulltime System Engineer Location: New Jersey

Major responsibilities for this position are:

  • Introducing new computer systems into current setups for optimum IT functions
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations
  • Operate master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
  • Troubleshooting IT systems when there is an issue reported by computer users
  • Diagnose hardware and software problems, and replace defective components
  • Performing a check to make sure all systems are working fine and up to date
  • Administering the creation, operation, modification, and deletion of username and passwords of employees in the system
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware from outside threats
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations and administration.
  • Protect systems from the attacks of malicious hackers or viruses using firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Installing and maintaining software updates periodically
  • Install, configure, and support an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system or a segment of a network system. Maintain network hardware and software. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability

  • MS certifications leading to MCSD, MCPD or MCAD are desirable.
  • Candidate must have the talent and ability to learn new technologies and implement them successfully
  • Effective hardware and software problem solving abilities
  • Candidate must have experience working on projects that were large and complex requiring an understanding of the overall project as well as the candidate’s specific tasks
  • Candidate must have excellent Unit and System testing skills as well as online transactional processing experience
  • Candidate must be a Team player
  • Candidate must be able to put in overtime when required
  • Candidate must be success oriented, focused on delivering solutions and interested in understanding and learning the business environment for which solutions are being delivered
  • Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate must have patience in working with Users and Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in the field or in related areas
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Basic competence in subordinates duties and tasks
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
    • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
    • Proficient on Microsoft programs, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
    • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

    • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information
    • Understand and respond to a diverse population
    • May handle 15 to 25 pounds in weight

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in an office setting.
  • Must be able to travel locally (tri-state area) for client site visits
  • Able to work off hours and weekend in case of emergency
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment
